Job Description

Openwork is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector to join our client's manufacturing team in Salisbury, NC. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced quality professional who enjoys problem-solving, working with precision measurements, and ensuring products meet the highest standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Our client is a global leader in clean fuel solutions, helping drive the transition toward cleaner energy alternatives in the transportation industry. As a Quality Assurance Inspector, you will play an important role in supporting manufacturing operations, improving product quality, and ensuring customer requirements are met.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform product inspections and monitor manufacturing processes according to established quality standards
  • Interpret mechanical drawings and specifications, including weld symbols, bend angles, locations, squareness, radius, thread sizes, and port depths
  • Use precision measurement tools to verify product accuracy and compliance
  • Identify and document nonconforming materials and equipment
  • Support corrective actions, containment efforts, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Assist manufacturing teams in identifying, resolving, and preventing quality issues
  • Conduct process capability studies and Gage R&R evaluations
  • Perform internal quality and process audits
  • Maintain inspection, calibration, and quality tracking systems
  • Conduct root cause analysis and support corrective/preventive actions using 8D methodology
  • Support supplier and customer PPAP documentation requirements
  • Train Quality Inspectors on proper measurement techniques and drawing interpretation
  • Serve as a quality resource supporting daily production needs
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3+ years of experience in quality assurance or quality control
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment required
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
  • Experience using precision measurement equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and develop solutions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
ISO 9001
Quality Management System experience
  • Knowledge of SPC, Gage R&R, and quality tools such as control charts, check sheets, flow charts, histograms, and scatter diagrams
  • Experience supporting new product launches and quality planning
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Word skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and conditional formatting
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment
  • Moderate noise level within the facility
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand and walk regularly throughout the shift
  • Frequent use of hands for measuring, handling, and inspecting materials
  • Ability to climb stairs and kneel while performing inspections
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
