Job Description
As a Hazardous Building Materials Consultant, you will support a variety of environmental assessment, inspection, and compliance projects throughout New Jersey and New York. This role involves conducting asbestos, lead-based paint, and mold investigations; performing field inspections and project monitoring; and preparing technical reports and regulatory documentation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable balancing field work with office responsibilities and have a strong understanding of hazardous building materials regulations and compliance requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
Conduct asbestos inspections, surveys, and project monitoring activities Perform lead-based paint assessments and risk evaluations Conduct mold assessments and indoor environmental investigations Collect field data, document site conditions, and maintain accurate project records Prepare technical reports, inspection findings, and regulatory documentation Coordinate with project managers, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies Support abatement project design, compliance reviews, and project oversight activities Review plans, specifications, and technical drawings Assist with mentoring and training junior staff as experience permits Travel to project sites throughout New Jersey and New York Maintain compliance with OSHA, client-specific, and regulatory safety requirements
Position Qualifications:
3-5+ years of experience focused on asbestos and hazardous building materials consulting AHERA Asbestos Inspector certification required NYSDOL Asbestos Inspector certification required Project Monitor certification required NYC Asbestos Investigator certification required NJ/EPA Lead Risk Assessor certification required NYSDOL Mold Assessor certification required Project Designer certification preferred Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field preferred, but not required Strong technical writing and report preparation skills CAD experience is a plus Ability to work independently as well as within a larger project team Comfortable transitioning between field work and office-based responsibilities Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and client-specific site requirements
