Rewinder (West Seneca, NY) Sherwood Electromotion Inc. - 2.6 West Seneca, NY Job Details Full-time $22 - $25 an hour 23 hours ago Qualifications Electrical metering Crane hoisting operations Electrical motors Lifts and hoists Equipment testing Electronic equipment testing Full Job Description Job Duties Technical Operations Disassemble, inspect, assess, repair, and reassemble large utility generators and electric motors (AC/DC, single and three‑phase), ranging from fractional horsepower to 3,000 HP and above. Carry out partial or full rewinds of rotors and stators, including mush and form coil winding, as well as linear induction applications. Expertly rewind DC armatures, DC stators, and AC stators and rotors to precise manufacturing standards, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Repair, braze, and insulate copper windings and leads. Apply knowledge of armature/stator construction, insulation, stripping, core preparation, and rewinding. Conduct armature finishing, including total indicator run-out. Testing & Quality Assurance Set up, adjust, and operate electrical equipment for inspection and testing using calibrated precision instruments. Perform on-site electrical condition testing. Collect, interpret, and document winding data; create or modify forms to improve processes. Conduct thorough inspections of finished products to verify quality and ensure full compliance with manufacturing instructions and specifications. Interpret and apply winding diagrams, technical drawings, work instructions, and inspection/test reports to ensure compliance with specifications. Equipment Operation Operate winding machines, coil jigs, hydraulic presses, pullers, cutting machines, and burn-off/curing ovens. Use specialized coil manufacturing equipment, including coil taping machines, and armature coil jigs. Operate wire cutting/stripping machines, soldering/brazing equipment, and welding tools. Safely operate cranes and other material handling systems. Requirements 3-5 years' experience in Mush Type Winding for AC three-phase induction motors and DC armatures; round and rectangular wire experience an asset. Proficient in rigging, lifting devices, and electrical testing (e.g., megger, hi-pot, winding analyzer, motor tester). Strong knowledge of electrical testing equipment and AC/DC troubleshooting. Experience operating SAMATIC winding machines. Physically able to lift up to 20 lbs. and stand for extended periods. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving, analytical abilities, and attention to detail. Adaptable to changing priorities and able to work under quality and time constraints. Effective team player. Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Technology is an asset.
