Job Summary:
Summary/objective:
The UA Tech is responsible for collecting and preparing urine samples.
Essential functions:
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
  • Perform urine toxicology specimen collection following program procedures including strict adherence to protocols for testing same or differing genders
  • Provide high level of professional service including demonstration of respect for clients' privacy and creation of an atmosphere of dignity and client safety
  • Interact with clients and staff in a professional and respectful manner
  • Organize workflow to ensure efficient and accurate testing
  • Assure chain of custody compliance prior to submission for testing
  • Ensure compliance with quality control and quality improvement protocols to affect highest quality client care
  • Order and maintain stock of UA testing materials following purchase policies
  • Accurately complete data entry requirements
  • Schedule clients UAs and disseminate information to appropriate counselor or program director
  • Assure clients confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
  • Collaborate with program director and team members to address quality of service issues and to implement internal quality improvement projects or monitoring
  • Maintain and update technical knowledge skills by actively participating in supervision and attending staff meetings
  • Achieve outcomes using methods that align with Emergence mission and values
  • Communicate accurately and positively about recovery and the use of evidence-based treatments
  • Use data and science to identify barriers, overcome obstacles, and inform decisions
  • Be financially responsible; avoid waste, document accurately, seek new opportunities to serve
  • Demonstrate compassion and respect for others

  • Be attentive to and identify high risk situations, communicating with the appropriate team members in a timely manner
  • Intervene in a way that demonstrates sensitivity and respect while keeping a clear line of communication between supervisor and treatment team

  • Demonstrated verbal and written skills adequate for communicating specimen collection, handling specimens, maintaining patient records, and communicating with team members
  • Demonstrate knowledge of accepted principles of client record management
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to adhere to established principles of client safety
  • Maintain professional communications and boundaries while managing complex situations and interacting with individuals diagnosed with substance use disorder or co-occurring conditions
  • Utilize both oral and written communications skills to effectively communicate with clients, co-workers, community resources, supervisors, and various other.
