Summary/objective:
The UA Tech is responsible for collecting and preparing urine samples.Essential functions:
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
- Perform urine toxicology specimen collection following program procedures including strict adherence to protocols for testing same or differing genders
- Provide high level of professional service including demonstration of respect for clients' privacy and creation of an atmosphere of dignity and client safety
- Interact with clients and staff in a professional and respectful manner
- Organize workflow to ensure efficient and accurate testing
- Assure chain of custody compliance prior to submission for testing
- Ensure compliance with quality control and quality improvement protocols to affect highest quality client care
- Order and maintain stock of UA testing materials following purchase policies
- Accurately complete data entry requirements
- Schedule clients UAs and disseminate information to appropriate counselor or program director
- Assure clients confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Collaborate with program director and team members to address quality of service issues and to implement internal quality improvement projects or monitoring
- Maintain and update technical knowledge skills by actively participating in supervision and attending staff meetings
- Achieve outcomes using methods that align with Emergence mission and values
- Communicate accurately and positively about recovery and the use of evidence-based treatments
- Use data and science to identify barriers, overcome obstacles, and inform decisions
- Be financially responsible; avoid waste, document accurately, seek new opportunities to serve

- Demonstrated verbal and written skills adequate for communicating specimen collection, handling specimens, maintaining patient records, and communicating with team members

- Maintain professional communications and boundaries while managing complex situations and interacting with individuals diagnosed with substance use disorder or co-occurring conditions
- Utilize both oral and written communications skills to effectively communicate with clients, co-workers, community resources, supervisors, and various other.
