$18.00 - $20.00 per hour Job description: Job Summary Do you have an eye for detail, a knack for problem-solving, and the drive to keep food safe for families everywhere? We're looking for a sharp, dependable individual to join our Food Safety & Quality team. We're looking for a Quality Assurance Technician who takes pride in protecting food safety and product quality. In this role, you'll be the frontline guardian of our standards—inspecting production areas, monitoring HACCP programs, verifying critical control points, and ensuring our products meet USDA, customer, and company requirements. This position is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced plant environment, and wants a hands-on role where their work truly makes a difference..
What You'll Be Doing:
Perform pre-op inspections and ensure production areas are ready for operation.
Guard food safety by monitoring HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, and company standards.
Inspect products, labels, weights, and more—catching issues before they become problems.
Place non-conforming products on QA Hold when necessary and document corrective actions.
Take random samples for microbiological testing and verification.
Keep records precise, accurate, and compliant with USDA and company requirements.
Work closely with production and USDA teams to solve issues quickly and effectively. Training & Testing Expectations All new hires will begin as a QA Technician C. As part of the role, you will be required to pass the
Sorter Test:
Inspect animals and other food items, write reports and determine the pathology of birds.
You will have up to 6 weeks of training to prepare for your first test.
If you do not pass on the first attempt, you will receive an additional 4 weeks of training before retesting.
If you do not pass the second test, you may be reassigned to an open Production or QA West position, if available.
All sorter tests must be passed within 12 weeks total. Management may grant an extension beyond 6 weeks if you are demonstrating progress.
What We're Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Knowledge of at least one production department (or willingness to learn).
Ability to follow instructions, complete tasks, and work effectively under direct supervision.
Reliability in showing up for your assigned shift.
Interest in, or ability to learn about, the poultry or food industry.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and work well with a variety of people, including coworkers, supervisors, and USDA personnel.
Basic understanding (or willingness to learn) of GMPs, USDA guidelines, HACCP regulations, and company policies.
Solid math skills: able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and work with percentages.
Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
Capability to work with minimal supervision while making reasonable and accurate decisions.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to assess observations and communicate results.
Commitment to adhering to specifications and recommending corrective actions when needed.. Attendance Bonus We reward reliability. Employees who maintain good attendance are eligible for a weekly Attendance Bonus of $2.00 per hour. This bonus is applied to all hours worked each week, including overtime hours, and is paid out on a week-to-week basis. In short, the more hours you work and the more consistently you show up, the more bonus pay you earn.
For example, if you work 40 hours in a week with perfect attendance, you'll receive an extra $80 on top of your regular pay. If you work overtime, those hours also earn the $2 per hour bonus.
The Work Environment:
Plant floor with temperature variations averaging 40°F.
Noise levels above 85 dB (hearing protection required).
Frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 40 lbs. Physical Demands This role requires a balance of sitting (30%), walking (40%), and standing (30%), often on concrete or wet surfaces. Team members must be able to lift up to 40 pounds as needed. The position also requires clear near vision, frequent use of both hands, and regular verbal communication and hearing to perform daily tasks effectively. If you're detail-oriented, dependable, and want a career where what you do truly matters, this is the opportunity for you. Apply today!
