Position Summary The Inspection Supervisor oversees daily inspection activities and provides direction to inspection personnel, ensuring parts and raw materials are properly inspected and verified against drawings, specifications, work instructions, travelers, and quality requirements. This role owns the daily inspection workflow, helps prevent quality issues before they occur, serves as the communication link between Production and Quality, coordinates with the Metallurgical Lab as needed, and ensures products are properly reviewed and approved before released to shipping. Duties & Responsibilities Assign inspection workload, set priorities, and monitor inspection progress to ensure activities are completed accurately and on schedule. Support a quality-focused culture and serve as the communication link between Production and Quality - helping prevent quality escapes, reinforcing accountability, and identifying and escalating inspection concerns, process issues, and compliance gaps in real time. Review production routers prior to release to the floor and verify ongoing operator compliance with coating parameters, work instructions, and process controls through first piece checks, mid-run checks, live job audits, and floor checks. Perform and/or oversee first article, in-process, and final inspection activities; review inspector findings, support defect recognition and decision-making, and train inspectors on new or updated customer requirements. Maintain oversight of inspection equipment needs, including identifying repair or replacement needs and supporting calibration status control. Review inspection records, router entries, and sign-offs for completeness, accuracy, and traceability prior to product release Coordinate with the Metallurgical Lab as needed to verify testing results and confirm lab-related requirements are complete prior to final release Verify final inspection completing and sign off on packaging after confirming part number, quantity, purchase order, customer, packaging, and shipping requirements are met; notify Shipping when items are ready. Review nonconformances and rework activity, support investigations, help ensure corrective actions are implemented on the production floor, and report quality issues or risks to management. Core Competencies & Qualifications Required Qualifications Prior inspection experience required Strong working knowledge of inspection methods, metrology equipment, and precision measuring instruments. Experience with incoming, first piece, in-process, final and first article inspection requirements. Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, travelers, and quality procedures. Ability to review inspection records and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and traceability. Ability to make product release decisions based on inspection results and applicable quality requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to read and understand English. Preferred Qualifications Supervisory or Lead Inspection experience preferred Skills & Competencies Attention to Detail - Demonstrates accuracy and sound judgment when reviewing inspection results and documentation Leadership - Provides direction, oversight, and technical support to inspection personnel. Physical Demands Stand, walk, lift, for extended periods of time Lift or move up to 25 pounds regularly Frequently operates a computer, keyboard, and other office equipment Occasionally moves about the production floor to perform inspections, validations and audits Work in environment that may include exposure to noise, heat, dust, or chemicals.
