This facility designs and builds turbines supporting U.S. Navy ship propulsion, power generation and compression applications. This is an excellent opportunity for inspectors with strong machine-shop and dimensional-inspection backgrounds who can independently set up gauging and inspect tight-tolerance parts down to .0001 inch accuracy. Responsibilities Perform source and final inspection of machined and manufactured components Use analog bore gauges, outside micrometers and depth micrometers to inspect dimensions to .0001 inch accuracy Inspect size, shape, geometry and tolerance requirements Review engineering drawings, specifications and inspection plans Set up and use gauges, fixtures and V-blocks for runout, concentricity and cylindricity inspections Inspect metal components as well as soft goods including gaskets and O-rings Document inspection results accurately and communicate nonconformances Support quality and shop-floor teams in meeting production and backlog-reduction goals Requirements U.S. Citizen required Quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably a machine shop Demonstrated experience measuring to .0001 inch accuracy Strong GD&T and blueprint-reading skills Hands-on experience with analog precision measuring tools Experience performing source and final inspections Ability to independently establish inspection methods and fixturing Experience inspecting runout, concentricity and cylindricity Strong documentation skills and attention to detail Comfortable in a high-mix, low-volume production environment Able to work fully onsite in Charleston, SC Able to complete a drug screen and background check Preferred Skills VICI Vision optical measurement systems Keyence IM8000 or LJ8000 Turbine, naval, aerospace, defense, valve or precision-machining experience
