OpSource has partnered with a 3rd party Quality Inspection company located in Fountain Inn, SC that specializes in manufacturing engineered automotive structural metal components and assemblies. A destructive lab associate performs physical stress, breaking, and dissection tests on materials, components, or products to evaluate durability, strength, and failure points. They prepare test specimens, operate heavy testing or microscopic equipment, document structural results, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Core Responsibilities:
Cut, mount, polish, or etch material samples (metals, polymers, or electronics) for physical evaluation Execute destructive physical analysis (DPA), tensile strength, hardness, burst, or tear tests under strict military, industrial, or internal standards. Dissect failed parts or components to locate initiation sites of defects using microscopes and imaging tools Record measurements, draft testing reports, and log non-conformances for engineering or quality control teams. Calibrate testing machinery, manage inventory of sample supplies, and maintain a safe workspace Use a hammer drill, a hydraulic hammer, the jaws of life and other tools used to destruct and tear parts apart, examining the welds.
