What to Expect The Civil QC Inspector supports the Civil QC Lead by verifying that all assigned civil-related activities (e.g., earthwork, foundations, structural concrete, roads) conform to engineering designs, codes, regulations, and Tesla standards. This position performs field inspections and QC documentation under the direction of the Civil QC Lead, using solid technical judgment and practical problem-solving to help achieve project quality objectives. What You'll Do Inspect and verify earthwork, grading, and site preparation activities, including excavation, fill placement, compaction, and subgrade preparation, to ensure compliance with project specifications, geotechnical reports, and applicable codes and standards Witness and document soil compaction and density testing, including nuclear gauge and proctor tests, to verify that subgrade, backfill, and embankment materials meet specified compaction and moisture requirements prior to subsequent construction activities Review and verify material certifications, mix designs, aggregate gradations, and concrete batch tickets to ensure all civil materials meet specified requirements and are properly documented prior to and during placement Identify, document, and track nonconformances related to civil construction work and coordinate with engineering, construction, and geotechnical teams to ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented and verified prior to work continuation Maintain accurate inspection records, field test reports, and quality documentation, including daily inspection logs, compaction test reports, concrete pour records, and survey verification data, in accordance with the project quality plan and regulatory requirements Inspect underground utilities, drainage systems, and civil infrastructure installations, including storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water lines, and detention systems, for proper bedding, grade, alignment, joint integrity, and backfill compaction in accordance with project drawings and specifications Inspect concrete placement activities, including formwork, reinforcing steel (rebar) placement, spacing, and lap splices, concrete mix design, pour, consolidation, and curing, to ensure conformance with project specifications, ACI standards, and structural drawings What You'll Bring Minimum of 3 years' experience as a civil QC inspector on large-scale industrial projects Demonstrated ability to read and interpret discipline-specific technical documents, communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors, and support resolution per direction of the Lead Possesses solid knowledge of quality control program requirements and key construction codes (e.g., ACI, IBC, ASTM, AASHTO); proficient with inspection tools and testing methods (e.g., concrete slump cones, ultrasonic pulse velocity meters, cover meters, rebar locators, ground penetrating radar) Demonstrates proficient problem-solving skills and the ability to present issues to the Civil QC Lead along with recommended corrective action solutions Possesses a working knowledge of quality management principles and the ability to apply them during construction and testing phases of the project in accordance with the project quality plan and applicable codes and standards Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment, meet inspection schedules, follow direction from the Civil QC Lead, and collaborate with crews and project teams while maintaining attention to detail and specification compliance Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Tesla is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
