NSC Staffing Send Resumes to: [email protected] NSC Staffing is seeking an experienced QA Coatings Inspector (AMPP QP?1) to support shipyard preservation and coatings operations in Norfolk, Virginia. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, oversight, and daily execution of an AMPP QP?1 certified coatings quality program , ensuring full compliance with NAVSEA, customer, and regulatory requirements across shipyard and subcontractor preservation activities. Position Overview The QA Coatings Inspector (QP?1) will manage and support all aspects of the shipyard's AMPP QP?1 program, including audits, inspections, training, documentation, and customer coordination. This role acts as a subject?matter expert for marine preservation and coatings systems and serves as a primary liaison between quality, production, subcontractors, and customers. Key Responsibilities QP?1 Program Management & Compliance Develop, implement, maintain, and oversee the AMPP QP?1 Program for shipyard preservation activities. Ensure compliance with AMPP QP?1 requirements and all customer?specified preservation standards. Prepare the organization for annual QP?1 audits, ensuring all Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) is complete and accurate. Verify subcontractor compliance and maintain required QP?1 documentation for all preservation work. Coatings Inspection & Documentation Perform and document inspections related to: Surface preparation Coating removal and application Preservation of vessels and marine structures Maintain accurate quality assurance records for all coatings and preservation activities. Ensure inspections align with NAVSEA Standard Items , SSPC, NACE, ABS, and customer specifications. Audits, Training & Surveillance Conduct audits and quality surveillances of shipyard operations and subcontractors. Train QA and shop preservation personnel on Quality Plans, procedures, work instructions, and customer requirements. Support continuous improvement efforts related to preservation quality and compliance. Customer & Organizational Support Serve as the liaison between NSC Staffing operations and customers for preservation?related quality matters. Investigate and resolve customer discrepancies or concerns. Represent the organization during internal and external preservation and coatings?related functions. Assist management with preparation of reports, documentation, and audit materials. Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in ship repair, manufacturing, engineering services, or a technical field. Minimum 5 years of experience as a certified paint/coatings inspector , holding one or more of the following: NBPI (NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspector)NACE / AMPP
Coatings Inspector PCI (SSPC/AMPP) Strong knowledge of: Coatings systems and application methods NAVSEA Standard Items SSPC, NACE/AMPP, and ABS requirements Demonstrated knowledge of quality techniques, specifications, and advanced quality systems. Ability to lead corrective actions using structured problem?solving and data analysis. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge ofISO 9001
standards.ISO 9001
Lead Auditor or auditor?training certification. Prior Department of Defense or government contract experience. Direct experience interfacing with government customer representatives. Security & Access Requirements Must be able to obtain and maintain access to Government facilities . Work Environment Shipyard and industrial marine environments. Exposure to confined spaces, heights, coatings operations, and active production areas. PPE required as applicable to inspection and shipboard activities. Why NSC Staffing?
