Job Description

Summary/Objective Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting manufactured components and assemblies to ensure conformance with customer and internal requirements. This role involves interpreting Optima mechanical drawings, applying GD&T principles, inspecting machined and fabricated metal and plastic parts used in packaging equipment. The inspector works closely with Assembly, Engineering, and Supply Chain to support product quality and continuous improvement. Inspection & Measurement Inspect machined, fabricated, and assembled parts per Optima drawings, specifications, and work instructions Interpret complex GD&T symbols, dimensions, and tolerances Perform first article, in‑process, and final inspections Measure parts using precision tools such as: Calipers and micrometers Height gages Optical comparators Surface plates CMM (if applicable) Inspect parts made from stainless steel, aluminum, mild steel and plastics Documentation & Reporting Record inspection results accurately in inspection reports and quality systems Identify, document, and communicate non‑conforming material Support root cause analysis and corrective actions as needed Process & Supplier Support Support manufacturing during setup and problem resolution Review incoming purchased and fabricated parts for conformance Assist with supplier quality inspections and audits when required Collaborate with Engineering to clarify drawing requirements and tolerances Quality & Continuous Improvement Follow ISO‑based quality procedures and internal standards Participate in continuous improvement and quality initiatives Maintain calibration awareness and proper use of measuring equipment Promote a culture of quality and attention to detail Competencies Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team Clear written and verbal communication Ability to prioritize inspections in a fast‑paced environment Commitment to safety and quality standards Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This job operates in an office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical Demands Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to [e.g., 30 lbs] as required Visual acuity for close inspection and measurement tasks Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time, hourly position and the hours of work and days are during our "core" hours. Every employee is required to be in house between the hours of 8:00am and 3:45pm Monday through Friday. It is up to the employee to determine their start time and end time including these core hours and ensure that their supervisor is made aware of their choice of working hours. Travel No travel is expected for this position. Required Education and Experience High school diploma or GED (technical or trade education preferred) 2+ years of experience as a Quality Inspector in a manufacturing environment Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical and assembly drawings Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) Experience inspecting machined / fabricated metal & plastic parts Proficiency with precision measurement tools Basic computer skills (inspection software, ERP, Excel, or equivalent) Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy Preferred Qualifications Experience in packaging equipment or industrial machinery Familiarity with Optima drawings or European drawing standards Experience with CMM operation or inspection software Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality systems Background in machining, fabrication, or manufacturing processes Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
