$26-35 per hour, DOEPosition OverviewWe are seeking a skilled CMM Programmer to develop, validate, and maintain coordinate measuring machine (CMM) inspection programs and support production and engineering teams to ensure parts meet design specifications. The role focuses on programming and running Hexagon-equipped CMMs using PC-DMIS, interpreting CAD models and engineering drawings with GD&T, and delivering accurate, timely inspection data to support quality assurance and continuous improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, test, and maintain CMM inspection programs using PC-DMIS for Hexagon CMMs and related measurement platforms.
Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T to create robust inspection plans and measurement routines.
Set up, operate, and verify measurements on Hexagon CMMs and other metrology equipment to support in-process, final inspection, first article inspection (FAI), and PPAP requirements.
Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve dimensional and tolerance issues and support engineering change and corrective actions.
Troubleshoot measurement discrepancies, optimize probe strategies, and recommend fixturing or inspection method improvements.
Maintain measurement equipment calibration records, run routine checks on gauges and metrology instruments, and ensure measurement traceability.
Train and mentor quality technicians and machine operators on CMM program execution, best practices, and proper use of metrology instruments.
Manage inspection data, maintain program libraries, and ensure clear, auditable documentation for quality reviews and customer requirements.
Participate in continuous improvement projects to increase measurement efficiency, reduce inspection time, and improve data reliability.
Qualifications3+ years of experience in CMM Programming or Quality Control.
Experience with Hexagon Metrology software and PC-DMIS for creating and validating measurement routines.
Proficiency with CAD models and the ability to translate 3D part geometry into measurement strategies.
Working knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and dimensional inspection techniques.
Experience performing First Article Inspections (FAI) and supporting PPAP submissions preferred.
Familiarity with quality systems and standards, measurement uncertainty, and maintaining traceable calibration records.
Experience with ZEISS or other CMM brands, Calypso software, and using a range of quality equipment such as calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, and other metrology instruments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
