We are looking for a Wood Model Maker in our Prototype Wood Model Shop (Concept Tooling). The candidate will build rough stock for CNC machines, hand build parts, and finish sand and coat models for lamination or Vacuum forming.

Basic Qualifications:

High school diploma, GED or equivalent Minimum of one year of relevant experienceJourneyman Wood Model MakerWorking knowledge of Planners, Jointers, Band saws, Table saws, and other wood working machineryAble to read 2d and 3d drawingsAble to create model from 3D drawingWorking knowledge of Fiberglass & Carbon Fiber lamination processProper use and type of sandpaperProper use and type of wood fillerAble to read height gages, calipers and use scribe toolsProper use of spray gun for application of sanding sealerAble Glue up stock in preparation for CNC machine.

Square a base.

Build a perfect plank base.

Flatten stock for mounting.

Drill holes in stockDrill & countersink holes in base.

Thorough understanding of CNC milling processes

Preferred Qualifications:

5 years of model building experienceAble to laminate and trim fiberglass and carbon fiber parts.

Exposed to urethane mold making.
