Position Summary:
A Machine Shop Helper assists machinists and production personnel by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and keeping the shop organized to support safe and efficient manufacturing operations.Essential Job Duties:
- Assist machinists with setting up machines and preparing materials for production.
- Load and unload raw materials, finished products, and machine components.
- Deburr, grind, sand, polish, and clean machined parts to meet quality standards.
- Measure and inspect parts using basic measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers.
- Operate basic shop equipment, including band saws, drill presses, grinders, and material handling equipment.
- Clean and maintain CNC machines, lathes, mills, and other shop equipment.
- Organize tools, materials, and workstations to ensure an efficient workflow.
- Package, label, and prepare finished products for shipping or storage.
- Assist with inventory, stocking supplies, and receiving materials.
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or overhead cranes.
- Remove scrap materials and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Follow all OSHA safety regulations and company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Shop Supervisor or Lead Machinist. Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous manufacturing, warehouse, or machine shop experience is preferred but not required.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn machining processes.
- Ability to read a tape measure; experience with calipers and other measuring tools is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
