Position Overview The Senior Woodworking Technician - Production is an experienced, hands-on woodworking and machine-operation position. We are looking for someone who can step into a production environment and contribute immediately. The right candidate will be comfortable working with hardwood, reading production documents, setting up and operating industrial woodworking machinery, inspecting completed work, and independently resolving common production issues. This is not an entry-level position or primarily a supervisory role. It is intended for an accomplished woodworker or machine operator who takes pride in producing accurate, consistent work and can be trusted with technically demanding operations. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate industrial woodworking equipment, including rip saws, chop saws, panel saws, dovetailers, planers, sanders, drills, and related machining equipment. Process solid hardwood and sheet goods accurately, safely, and efficiently. Read and interpret production documents, work orders, cut lists, drawings, dimensions, and machining specifications. Verify material species, thicknesses, dimensions, quantities, grain orientation, and other order requirements before beginning production. Perform machine setups, adjustments, tooling changes, and operational checks. Produce parts that consistently meet dimensional, machining, appearance, and workmanship standards. Use tape measures, calipers, gauges, squares, and other inspection tools to verify accuracy. Identify defects, machining problems, and specification discrepancies before they move downstream. Troubleshoot routine equipment, tooling, material, and process issues. Complete assembly operations such as gluing, drilling, fitting, sanding, and final inspection as needed. Perform routine preventive maintenance, cleaning, and basic equipment care. Support efficient workflow between rough mill, machining, assembly, sanding, and finishing operations. Help less-experienced team members follow safe and effective production practices. Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area. Contribute practical ideas that improve safety, quality, throughput, and material utilization. Required Qualifications At least three years of professional woodworking, cabinetmaking, millwork, furniture manufacturing, or closely related machine-operation experience. Demonstrated experience operating industrial saws and woodworking machinery. Strong working knowledge of solid hardwood, including grain direction, moisture-related movement, defects, and machining characteristics. Ability to read production documents and convert written specifications into accurate finished components. Ability to measure accurately and work with fractions, decimals, and common woodworking tolerances. Experience completing machine setups and adjustments with limited supervision. Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting ability. Consistent record of working safely around industrial machinery. Strong attention to detail and personal accountability for quality. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a production team. Preferred Qualifications Experience manufacturing dovetail drawers, cabinetry, furniture, doors, or architectural millwork. Experience operating dovetailers, straight-line rip saws, sliding panel saws, wide-belt sanders, planers, CNC routers, or automated production equipment. Familiarity with maple, walnut, white oak, and other domestic hardwoods. Experience with preventive maintenance and tooling inspection. Experience training or assisting less-experienced machine operators. Technical education or certification in woodworking, manufacturing, machining, or industrial maintenance. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and work around production equipment for extended periods. Ability to lift and maneuver lumber, panels, parts, and completed products safely. Ability to perform repetitive measuring, machining, sanding, drilling, and assembly tasks. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment involving wood dust, noise, moving equipment, and required personal protective equipment. What Success Looks Like A successful
