Job Description

Content & Marketing Specialist Witmer Wood Products | Berlin, WisconsinFull-Time | On-Site | Some Travel Required$17-$22/hour | Benefits | Two Weeks PTO Build a Brand From Inside the Factory Witmer Wood Products is looking for a hands-on Content & Marketing Specialist who wants the opportunity to take real ownership early in their career. Our factory is literally a content factory. Every day there are hardwood products being built, machines running, customer orders taking shape, new technology being implemented, people solving problems, products shipping across the country, and stories worth telling. We need someone who can capture it, package it, and help us build a brand around it. This is an opportunity for an early-career marketer who wants to grow quickly, build something meaningful, and have substantially more ownership than a typical entry-level marketing role. You'll report directly to the CEO and collaborate closely with our Customer Experience Manager and Administrative Manager, along with sales, operations, and production. You'll have direct access to decision-makers, the resources to execute, and considerable autonomy over how the marketing function develops. What You'll Own Content Creation Content is at the center of this role. You'll find stories throughout the company and turn them into compelling content.
That includes:
Shooting and editing short-form video Photography and product content Reels, Stories, and TikToks Behind-the-scenes factory content Product launches and demonstrations Employee and customer stories Educational woodworking and manufacturing content Campaign concepts Copywriting Website content Sales and marketing collateral We want someone who enjoys making things, not simply managing other people who make them. Social Media You'll take an active role in building Witmer's presence across: Instagram TikTok Facebook Additional channels as opportunities emerge You'll help determine what we create, produce the content, publish it, study the results, and continually improve. You should understand what makes people stop scrolling, what feels authentic, what gets shared, and how different platforms require different approaches. Marketing Technology & AI We want someone who is naturally interested in technology and actively experimenting with new tools. AI should feel like an opportunity, not something intimidating. You'll have room to use modern tools for: Content ideation and production Generative AI Image and video editing Copywriting Research Analytics Automation Workflow improvement You don't need to know every platform we use. You do need to be the kind of person who enjoys figuring them out. Website & Digital You'll help keep Witmer's website current, useful, and engaging.
Responsibilities include:
Updating website content Creating product pages and landing pages Managing photography, video, and copy Publishing new products and capabilities Coordinating with outside development resources Supporting SEO and organic content Monitoring website performance and conversions Marketing Planning & Campaigns You'll work directly with leadership to help develop and execute our annual marketing plan. You'll have ownership across: Campaign calendars Product launches Advertising Print campaigns Direct mail Customer communications Sales collateral Promotional campaigns Marketing experiments Brand development Over time, we want this person to become equally comfortable answering: "What should our marketing priorities be this quarter?" and: "How do I turn what's happening on the factory floor today into great content?" Advertising & Analytics Good marketing should create measurable results. You'll help monitor: Advertising performance Website traffic Lead generation Conversion Social engagement Audience growth Campaign performance Marketing ROI You'll work with leadership to understand what's working, what isn't, and where we should invest next. Trade Shows & Events Witmer participates in industry trade shows and events around the country. You'll help coordinate: Booth strategy and presentation Displays and signage Giveaways Marketing materials Lead capture Photography and video Social coverage Pre-show campaigns Post-show follow-up Some travel is required. Customer Experience & Appreciation Marketing doesn't stop when someone becomes a customer. You'll collaborate closely with our Customer Experience Manager on: Customer appreciation programs Gifts and special campaigns Customer stories Milestones Events Follow-up communications Creative ways to strengthen customer relationships The Person We're Looking For Skills matter. Personality matters too. We're looking for someone with a high motor — someone who naturally wants to learn, create, improve, and keep things moving. Someone who gets excited about building. Someone who sees possibilities. Someone who can be given ownership of something and starts thinking about how to make it better.
You should be:
Growth-minded — you actively want to get better and take on more responsibility. A builder — you're energized by creating something that didn't exist before. High-motor — you naturally move ideas forward and don't require constant prompting. Curious — you ask questions, explore new tools, and want to understand how things work. Creative — you notice stories, visuals, angles, and opportunities other people miss. Self-directed — you're comfortable having autonomy and making decisions. Collaborative — you like working with different personalities and functions across a business. Resourceful — when you don't know something, your instinct is to figure it out. Positive and engaged — you bring energy to the people and projects around you. Accountable — you follow through and take pride in the result. Culture and collaboration are pillars of Witmer, so we're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being part of a team. Experience This role is particularly well suited to someone in the first few years of their marketing career who wants a steeper learning curve and more responsibility than they might receive in a traditional corporate environment. You may have 0-3 years of professional marketing experience, or you may have built your skills through: Internships College projects Freelance work Running social accounts Personal projects Content creation Student organizations Photography or videography Building something of your own A degree in marketing, communications, advertising, business, or a related discipline is valuable, but capability and potential matter more than pedigree.
You should be comfortable with:
Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook Short-form video Photography Basic video editing Writing and copy Modern AI tools Digital technology Learning new software quickly Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, CapCut, WordPress, CRM platforms, analytics software, photography equipment, or similar tools is helpful but not mandatory. Why Witmer This is where the role gets interesting. You'll have: Direct access to the CEO Significant autonomy Real ownership of projects Opportunities to lead initiatives Creative freedom Resources to execute good ideas Exposure to nearly every part of the business National industry trade show experience An enormous supply of raw content The ability to build a substantial professional portfolio A direct view into how a growing business operates Room for your responsibilities to expand as your capabilities grow We aren't looking for someone to simply fill a marketing seat. We're looking for someone who can grow with the company and grow the role around themselves. If you demonstrate that you can own more, there will be opportunities to own more. Our Environment Witmer is a growing Wisconsin manufacturer with an entrepreneurial culture. We move quickly, collaborate closely, invest in new ideas and technology, and give capable people room to operate. Marketing isn't isolated from the rest of the organization. You'll be working alongside customer experience, administration, sales, operations, leadership, and the people actually making our products. That interaction is part of what makes the role valuable. It's also why this position is 100% on-site at our facility in Berlin, Wisconsin. Compensation & Benefits $17-$22/hour, depending on experience and capability Full-time employment Two weeks paid time off Company benefits Some travel Significant autonomy and ownership Leadership opportunities Opportunity for advancement as the company and marketing function grow Show Us What You've Built A résumé tells us where you've been. Send us anything you're proud of: Social content Videos Photography Design work Websites Campaigns School projects Freelance work Personal projects A social account you've grown Something you built just because you thought it would be interesting You don't need a decade of experience.
