70227 The Operator II position is a cross-functional role responsible for the control room, maintaining the proper operation of the furnace, melt stream, spinners, and is the process expert for converting molten rocks into mineral wool products. The employee is the operations specialist in the line control area, the area which cures product to deliver to packaging equipment. The employee sets-up and operates the wool machine and assures uninterrupted flow of material from the oven to packing.

The Operator II is an hourly position reporting to the Lead and Production Shift Supervisor.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Follows all Owens Corning safety policies and procedures.
Know plant EPA goals or requirements and insures goals are met on a daily basis.
Maintain good quality products by insuring consistent operation of furnace and afterburner system.
Performs/assist in Cupola furnace preparation, start-up, shutdowns, and clean outs.
Inspects the furnace and controls, completes the shift change inspection check list then reports identified irregularities.
Controls, monitors, and adjusts operations of furnace and maintains the burden height in the furnace.
Regularly monitors, verifies, and adjust the furnace power and temperature.
Maintains control of cupola parameters; cooling and charge flow rates, cooling, melt, and gas temperatures.
Reports any problems to appropriate personnel and carries out emergency procedures.
Uses fork lift and other related material handling machinery
Ensures clean and orderly housekeeping in all assigned areas at all times
Performs other tasks and duties within scope as necessary and in agreement with the lead.
JOB REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required
Must be 18 years or older
Must be a US citizen or have the right to work in the
US EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two (2) years related experience and/or training in an industrial/manufacturing environment highly preferred.
Two year Associates degree in technical related field highly preferred
Experience operating powered industrial equipment such as forklift, Bobcat, overhead cranes, and hoists preferred
