Houston, TX Job Details Full-time $44 - $49 an hour 6 hours ago Qualifications System troubleshooting Equipment troubleshooting English Water treatment chemical handling Water treatment equipment operation Condensing boilers Electrical maintenance Boiler water chemistry analysis Full Job Description Position Overview We are seeking a Certified Boiler Plant Operator to support the Facilities Management Service Line at a Medical Center in Houston, TX. This role operates and maintains multi-fuel water-tube or fire-tube boilers and associated auxiliary equipment providing steam and high-temperature hot water for building heat, sterilization, and other facility needs, on a 24/7 basis. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor multiple-fuel boilers and auxiliary equipment; start, regulate, and secure boilers and adjust combustion controls, including shifting between natural gas and fuel oil.
- Test boiler water samples, perform chemical treatment, and document results to protect equipment and ensure safe, efficient operation.
- Perform routine operational maintenance on valves, pumps, burners, feedwater systems, condensate systems, and safety devices; coordinate more extensive repairs with appropriate trades.
- Respond to boiler and steam system alarms and perform after-hours trouble-call functions for Engineering systems when assigned.
- Provide minor repairs and preventive maintenance including assisting with pump installation, steam line/valve work, and troubleshooting electrical systems within the boiler plant.
- Maintain daily boiler plant operating logs, water chemistry/treatment records, safety device test records, and trouble-call/incident reports. Qualifications & Experience
- Certified Boiler Plant Operator certification required.
- 5+ years of commercial or hospital boiler plant experience.
- Boiler operations and steam systems experience.
- Water chemistry and chemical treatment experience.
- Boiler troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
- English proficiency (read/write/speak); resume demonstrating relevant experience with supporting licenses/certifications.
- Must meet VA training requirements, pass OIG exclusion screening, and meet healthcare facility immunization/infection-control requirements. Compensation and Hours $44-$49/hour, depending on experience and certifications. 24/7 rotating shift coverage (7:30 AM-4:00 PM / 3:30 PM-12:00 AM / 11:30 PM-8:00 AM) Application Process
