A Tool and Die Maker builds the tools and dies used to make a variety of products and appliances. Works with mechanical engineers to build and assemble parts according to blueprints.
The Tool & Die Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and improving tooling, dies, fixtures. This role ensures tooling and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and within quality standards while minimizing downtime. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot tooling, dies, jigs, fixtures, and machine shop equipment. Perform preventive maintenance on tooling and machine shop equipment. Diagnose mechanical issues and determine corrective actions as related to machine shop tools and equipment. Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble dies and tooling components. Operate manual machines such as mills, grinders, lathes, and drill presses. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and models. Design and fabricate new tools, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures as needed for production support. Fabricate or modify tooling components as needed. Use precision measuring tools to verify final dimensions are within acceptable tolerances. Assist with die setups, adjustments, and changeovers. Monitor tooling performance and recommend improvements to reduce downtime and scrap. Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and company policies. Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality departments to resolve tooling issues. • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical school or vocational training preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of tool & die maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with stamping, machining, aerospace, or manufacturing equipment preferred. Experience with CNC machining equipment and computer aided design (CAD) software preferred. Strong troubleshooting skills. Computer skills for maintenance documentation and equipment operations. Welding and fabrication is a plus. Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.[Dzu Duong2] Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work around machinery, noise, and manufacturing equipment. Ability to use hand and power tools safely. Work Environment Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, noise, oils, lubricants, and varying temperatures.
