Job Description
Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Toolmaker to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for designing, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and molds used in production processes. Your expertise will ensure that manufacturing operations run smoothly, efficiently, and with the highest quality standards. Responsibilities Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD to develop tooling solutions. Perform manual machining operations using hand tools, grinders, mills, lathes, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement instruments to achieve tight tolerances. Fabricate tooling components with high accuracy by applying shop math principles and understanding GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Conduct routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on tooling equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to develop new tooling designs or improve existing tools for efficiency and quality enhancement. Use welding techniques and fabrication skills to assemble or modify tooling parts as needed. Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including schematics, measurement logs, and inspection reports for quality control purposes. Experience Proven experience as a Toolmaker or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment with a focus on tooling fabrication and maintenance. Strong proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD for designing tooling components. Knowledge of plastics injection molding processes along with familiarity with stamping presses is highly desirable. Skilled in interpreting mechanical blueprints, schematics, shop drawings, and schematics for precise fabrication work. Familiarity with GD&T standards for measurement accuracy and quality control using micrometers, calipers, precision measuring instruments. Ability to perform manual machining tasks with hand tools and grinders while maintaining high precision standards. Experience working with shop math concepts related to machining tolerances and dimensions. Background in tool & die making or toolroom experience is preferred; experience with maintenance or repair of tooling equipment is a plus.
