Sets up tooling per written or verbal instruction for production.
Will try out development work and tooling debugging. Will diagnose tooling problems and make corrections and adjustments as necessary.
In general, workers in this classification possess an understanding of the working properties of common metals and alloys, punch press working practices and have well rounded training in machine shop, tool and die maintenance, and toolroom practices acquired through schooling and a formal apprenticeship.

- Required CNC experience
- Preferred Journeyman License
- Required Strong knowledge of machining, metals, tooling, and toolroom practices.

In person Overview Job DescriptionUnder the direction of the Tool Room Supervisor, the Tool Maker....plans, constructs, assembles, alters and repairs a wide variety of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and gauges to very close tolerance and fits.plans and lays out work according to models, blueprints, drawings or other written or verbal specifications. selects appropriate materials, tools and processes for the building or repairing of all tooling.makes necessary shop computations. sets up and operates various machine tools and related equipment.uses various hand tools and precision measuring instruments working with very close tolerances. makes allowances for material change during heat treating of tools and other metal parts.Sets up tooling per written or verbal instruction for production.
