Monday-Friday | 8 AM-4:30 PM Local Tool Room Mold Maker Job with Pay, Perks, and a Great Team. Looking for Tool Room Mold Maker jobs in Elgin where craftsmanship and precision come together? This opportunity lets you assemble quality products using hand tools, mechanical skills, and detailed work instructions while helping keep production running efficiently. Tool Room Mold Maker Education Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Technical, machining, tool and die, or mold-making training preferred. Tool Room Mold Maker Skills + Experience Requirements Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Machinist, Tool Maker, Mold Maker, or in a related tooling role. Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing plastic injection molds is preferred. Proficiency in operating manual machining equipment and tooling. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair tooling issues. EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) knowledge or experience is a strong plus. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel. Ability to accurately document maintenance and repair activities. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Knowledge of preventive maintenance and 5S principles is preferred. Ability to follow and promote workplace safety procedures. Tool Room Mold Maker Job Duties Disassemble, clean, inspect, maintain, and reassemble plastic injection molds, fixtures, and tooling. Diagnose tooling and mold issues and perform repairs to restore proper operation. Perform manual machining and mold maintenance using appropriate tools and equipment. Complete preventive maintenance activities to reduce mold downtime and support production efficiency. Accurately document maintenance activities and tooling data using computer systems and Microsoft Excel. Perform tooling functions and repair projects as directed by tooling leadership. Participate in quality and safety training and follow established procedures. Identify and recommend continuous improvement opportunities related to tooling, quality, and efficiency. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe tool room using 5S principles. Follow all workplace safety and quality requirements. Tool Room Mold Maker Physical Capabilities Ability to stand and work in a tool room or manufacturing environment for extended periods. Ability to use manual machining equipment, hand tools, and precision instruments. Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and finger movements. Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and work in various positions as needed. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull molds, tooling, and materials as required.
