Job Description

Join our team and make an impact at GECOM as a Toolmaker! This is an on-site, full-time position. In this role, you will be responsible for manufacturing, repairing, modifying, and maintaining precision tooling, die components, fixtures, gauges, and other tooling used in support of production operations. Proficiency in manual and CNC machining equipment, including mills, lathes, grinder, and wire EDMS, as well as the ability to interpret engineering drawings and product precision components to close tolerances, is essential. GECOM Corporation was established in 1987 in Greensburg, Indiana, to manufacture high-quality door locking mechanisms for the Automotive Industry.

Opening doors to your future! Essential Duties (Accountable for the following end results): 1. Manufacture new tooling, replacement components, fixtures, gauges, and machine parts from engineering drawings or samples. 2. Set up and operate manual and CNC mills, lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, saws, and wire EDM machines. 3. Machine precision components while maintaining close tolerances. 4. Repair, modify, and improve existing tooling to support production and engineering changes. 5. Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, GD&T, and tooling specifications. 6. Fit, assemble, and verify tooling components to ensure proper function. 7. Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Die Maintenance to resolve tooling issues and improve tool performance. 8. Keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and in safe operating condition. 9. Complete additional tasks and assignments given by Supervisor/Manager. 10. Consistent and regular attendance. Competencies Journeyman certification or equivalent experience Excellent problem-solving and communication skills Forklift license/overhead crane certification (As Needed) A Journeyman certification or equivalent years of experience is strongly preferred in this position. For those without these qualifications, GECOM is proud to offer paid schooling in collaboration with Ivy Tech for our apprentices, provided they maintain a "C" or above in their classes.
