Duties Conduct comprehensive intake assessments to understand patient needs, medical history, and treatment goals. Measure patients accurately for garments and wraps using specialized hand tools and fabrication techniques. Utilize ICD coding knowledge to document procedures precisely for billing and medical records management. Fit, adjust, and modify compression garments, lymphedema wraps, orthotics, prosthetics, and other DME (Durable Medical Equipment) devices to ensure proper fit and function. Operate power tools and fabrication shop equipment safely to create custom garments or modifications as prescribed. Apply aseptic techniques during fittings to maintain a sterile environment when necessary. Communicate effectively with patients regarding their treatment plans, device usage, and care instructions while providing exceptional patient service. Manage electronic health records (EHR) accurately to document assessments, fittings, modifications, and patient interactions. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare providers to develop comprehensive treatment plans rooted in physiology knowledge, anatomy understanding, and orthopedic principles. Educate patients on garment care, maintenance of orthotic/prosthetic devices, and lifestyle adjustments to promote optimal outcomes. Qualifications Certification as a Fitter for Garments and Lymphedema Wraps from an accredited program or organization. Proven experience in orthotic and prosthetic fabrication or related fabrication shop work. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, orthopedics, and related fields essential for accurate fitting and patient care. Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) management systems for documentation purposes. Familiarity with ICD coding standards used in medical billing processes. Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely within a fabrication environment. Knowledge of DME products including orthotics, prosthetics, compression garments, and lymphedema wraps. Excellent client communication skills with a focus on compassionate patient service delivery.
