Tool & Die / Manual Mill Machinist 1st Shift |
Full-Time Pay Range:
$25.00 - $34.00 per hour (Based on Experience) Build Precision. Shape Innovation. We are seeking a skilled Tool & Die / Manual Mill Machinist with a strong background in diversified machining, grinding, tooling, and precision fabrication. This position is ideal for a machinist who enjoys solving challenging manufacturing problems, building tooling, and working across a variety of manual machining disciplines. Position Summary The Tool & Die / Manual Mill Machinist is responsible for manufacturing, repairing, modifying, and maintaining precision tooling, fixtures, gauges, and complex components used in the production of advanced nozzle technologies. This role requires extensive experience operating manual machine tools, surface grinders, and precision measuring equipment while maintaining tight tolerances and exceptional workmanship. The successful candidate will possess broad machining knowledge across multiple disciplines and be capable of working independently from engineering drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions. Essential Responsibilities Set up and operate manual milling machines to produce precision tooling and components. Manufacture, repair, and modify tooling, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and prototype components. Perform precision grinding using surface grinders and other manual grinding equipment. Operate manual lathes, drill presses, saws, and other conventional machine shop equipment. Machine a variety of materials including stainless steel, hardened tool steel, aluminum, titanium, Inconel, and other specialty alloys. Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, CAD prints, sketches, and GD&T. Hold close tolerances while maintaining superior surface finishes. Perform precision layout work and determine machining sequences. Inspect completed work using precision measuring equipment including: Micrometers Calipers Height Gages Bore Gages Indicators Gauge Blocks Optical Comparators (preferred) Troubleshoot tooling and manufacturing issues while recommending process improvements. Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to develop tooling solutions that improve productivity and quality. Maintain organized work areas and follow 5S standards. Perform preventative maintenance on manual equipment. Follow all quality, safety, and security procedures. Qualifications Required High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 5 years of Tool & Die or Manual Machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment. Extensive manual milling experience. Surface grinding experience. Experience operating manual lathes. Strong blueprint reading skills. Working knowledge of GD&T. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Excellent mechanical aptitude. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting advanced nozzle manufacturing. Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience. EDM experience (Wire or Sinker) preferred. Basic CNC machining knowledge is a plus.
