Tooling Technician

$25 - $45 per hour Job Details -
Essential Functions:
Ensure all company and customer owned tooling is properly managed & perform qualification measures of the equipment prior to production. Develop sample sand molding processes to validate castings achieve customer specifications. Repair wood patterns & ensure flasks are sized for No-Bake & Floor molding processes. Manage the outsourced pattern shops to ensure the parting line of castings, amount of draft to be allowed, metal shrinkage, & determine the riser and gating system configurations. Review and provide input on product and tool design changes to meet customer blueprints for manufacturability and cost effectiveness. Responsible for the routine maintenance and changes to existing sand tooling. Maintain tooling to optimize efficiency, ensure dimensional accuracy and coordinate necessary modifications as required. Review all manufacturing processes to ensure that daily production achieves quoted parameters, including scrap & re-work rates. Maintain active tooling database with details regarding production issues, maintenance performed, amount of scrap output, and general pattern conditions Understand properties & solidification of aluminum and brass, as well as various molding methods. Quotes, analyzes and manages any cost reductions and improvements in current production and continuous improvement projects A bit about us: - My client is a leading manufacturing company who is growing!
