Pawtucket, RI Job Details Full-time $25 - $35 an hour 1 day ago Benefits 401(k) Paid time off Qualifications Manufacturing facility experience Supervising experience Leadership Sensors Mechanical troubleshooting Full Job Description Progressive Stamping Lead / Setup Technician Mel-Co-Ed | Pawtucket, RI | Full-Time | $25-$35/hr based on experience About the role We're a 75-year-old Rhode Island metal stamping shop running a high-mix floor, and we're looking for the person who owns our progressive stamping operation end to end. This is a hands-on lead role: you set up and run our most demanding progressive dies, and you set the standard for everyone else on the floor. If you're the setter other setters ask for help, and you've been doing the hardest jobs without the title or the pay to match — this is the seat. What you'll do Set up and run progressive dies — coil/strip feed, servo or air feed, multi-station tooling, in-die operations Dial in feed progression, shut height, pilot release, and die protection (misfeed, short-feed, slug, end-of-stock sensors) so jobs run unattended and clean Lead first-piece run-offs and approve setups before production Troubleshoot the difficult jobs — strip feed issues, die wear, burrs, tonnage problems — and keep them running Direct and coach setters and operators; prioritize the floor schedule for throughput Work with the toolroom on die issues, repairs, and improvements Drive down changeover time and build repeatable setup standards Hold the line on quality and safety What we're looking for Proven experience setting up and running progressive dies in a production stamping environment Deep command of feed systems, die protection/sensors, and in-die operations Strong with calipers, micrometers, and GD&T drawing interpretation The judgment to troubleshoot a press or die fast and the temperament to lead a floor Reliable, safety-minded, and someone others want to learn from Nice to have: Tool & die or die maintenance background, SMED/changeover-reduction experience, prior lead or supervisory role.
