We're looking for a hands-on Senior Toolmaker to join our Tooling Department at our Conroe, TX manufacturing facility, supporting the injection molds, fixtures, and production tooling that keep our medical device and life sciences manufacturing running. This is a true hands-on role — 80-90% of your time will be in the shop, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining injection molds and tooling components, not sitting behind a desk. You'll be the go-to technical resource on second shift, working independently to keep production moving, while mentoring and guiding other technicians on the team. Shift & Schedule Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 1:00 PM-9:00 PM (second shift). New hires typically train on first shift for approximately 90 days alongside our experienced PM technicians and lead toolmaker before transitioning to the second-shift schedule.

Second-shift differential:

additional $0.50/hour. What You'll Do Provide hands-on tooling support for Operations, R&D, and New Product Development (NPD) projects. Investigate and independently resolve tooling issues in production to minimize downtime. Oversee and perform fabrication, service, and maintenance of injection molds, mold components, fixtures, and tooling from engineering prints and 3D CAD. Troubleshoot and repair injection molds, including two-shot molding tools, custom molds, mud molds, book molds, core pins, ejector pins, and related components. Troubleshoot hot runner manifold systems, including the electrical components involved. Perform precision surface grinding, manual machining, and work with CNC, wire EDM, and sinker EDM equipment as needed. Build prototype products, jigs, and fixtures for production. Plan mold builds and repairs by reading blueprints, instructions, sketches, and studying the actual part. Set up equipment based on mold requirements, materials, tolerances, and machine capabilities. Collaborate closely with Molding, R&D, Automation, Assembly, and Engineering to keep projects on time and support product design with technical input. Estimate time and cost for tooling projects. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other toolmakers and technicians on the shift. Maintain a safe work environment by following standards and procedures.

What You Bring Required:

High school diploma or GED. 5+ years of hands-on Toolmaker and tool troubleshooting experience, specifically in injection molding tooling (general machining/toolmaking experience alone is not a substitute). Ability to independently troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production tooling, ideally including hot runner systems. Strong precision/surface grinding and manual machining experience. Strong blueprint reading skills and comfort working with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tight tolerances (down to the thousandths). CAD design experience; working knowledge of CNC and EDM. General tool shop practices and knowledge of machinery such as lathes, grinders, and mills. Experience with statistical methods and engineering calculations.

Preferred:

3D CAD modeling experience, SolidWorks a plus. Journeyman/toolmaker card a plus, not required. Apprenticeship in toolmaking or applicable coursework. 1+ year of experience with Design for Quality and Lean Manufacturing. Mentoring or informal leadership experience — willingness to help train and develop less-experienced technicians.

Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills across departments including Regulatory, QA/QC, Supply Chain, Marketing, Customer Service, and Sales, as well as external suppliers. Flexible, motivated, and a strong problem-solver with a high level of commitment to project success. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other discipline-specific software. Strong organizational skills — able to prioritize, plan, and manage work independently with limited oversight.
