SUMMARY OF WORK

Under general supervision, performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation and maintenance of county facilities, buildings, grounds, and wastewater systems. Duties include building and grounds upkeep, repair of mechanical and structural systems, and operation of wastewater treatment facilities and collection systems inpliance with regulatory requirements. Requires sound judgment, troubleshooting ability, and capacity to respond to emergencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Facilities Maintenance o Performs general building maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and structural work.

o Maintains grounds by mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, shoveling/plowing snow, and spreading de-icing materials. o Completes work orders, inspects facilities, and ensures safety and security of county offices and buildings. o Assists with major projects and repairs under direction of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.

• Wastewater Operations o Operates and monitors county wastewater treatment facilities, lift stations, and collection systems.

o Collects samples, performs routine lab tests, and records data to ensurepliance with state and federal regulations. o Inspects, maintains, and repairs pumps, motors, valves, and related equipment. o Responds to sewer system locate requests and accurately marks sewer infrastructure to ensure the protection of collection system o Reads meters, gauges, and SCADA systems; adjusts processes to maintain efficient operations. o Safely handles, stores, and applies treatment chemicals. o Responds to alarms, sewer backups, and equipment malfunctions; participates in on-call rotations.

• Other o Maintains records, logs, and reports for both facilities and wastewater systems.

o Ensures tools, vehicles, and equipment are properly maintained. o Flexible hours may be required, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties. o Performs other duties as assigned.

FOR WORKERS

• Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor but may be required to lead projects and delegate tasks to other team members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school graduation or its equivalent PLUS
• Two (2) years of demonstrable experience in facilities maintenance, wastewater operations, or a closely related field; OR an equivalentbination of education, training, and experience.
• Possession of a valid Montana Driver's License.
• Possession of (or ability to obtain within one year of hire) a Montana Class 3C or higher Wastewater Operator Certification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

• Physical requirements include walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs. (greater with assistance) and occasionally moving up to 100 lbs.
• Work performed indoors and outdoors in variable and sometimes adverse conditions including rain, snow, heat, cold, odors, noise, and exposure to chemicals.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, drawings, and safety data sheets.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions, work independently, and respond to emergency situations.
• Must maintain a valid Montana Driver's License.
