10/07/2026 The Wastewater Plant Operator I,II, or III position performs semi-skilled work in operating and maintaining a wastewater treatment plant. Minimum Qualifications for Wastewater Plant Operator I Graduation from high school or GED Valid NC driver's license or valid out-of-state driver's license with the ability to obtain a valid NC driver's license within sixty days of employment and good driving record Achievement of Grade I Biological Wastewater certification within 12 months of employment Minimum Qualifications for Wastewater Plant Operator II Graduation from high school or GED Two years of experience operating a wastewater treatment plant Valid NC driver's license or valid out-of-state driver's license with the ability to obtain a valid NC driver's license within sixty days of employment and good driving record Grade III Biological Wastewater certification Minimum Qualifications for Wastewater Utility Plant Operator III Graduation from high school or GED Valid NC driver's license or valid out-of-state driver's license with the ability to obtain a valid NC driver's license within sixty days of employment and good driving record Three years of experience in operating a wastewater treatment plant Grade IV Biological Wastewater certification Work Schedule On-Call rotation, Rotating shift pattern.
