Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Water / Wastewater Operator and become a vital part of ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of water treatment and wastewater systems. In this role, you will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining water wells and wastewater facilities to meet regulatory standards and optimize system performance. Your proactive approach and technical expertise will help safeguard public health and protect our environment while supporting the reliable delivery of clean water services. Duties Operate water treatment equipment, including pumps, filters, chemical feeders, to ensure optimal system performance. Monitor plant processes through data collection, analysis, and visual inspections to maintain compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards. Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on wastewater and water treatment systems, including industrial pumps and associated machinery. Conduct analysis of water quality parameters using basic math skills to adjust treatment processes as needed for consistent water quality output. Maintain detailed records of operational data, maintenance activities, safety checks, and incident reports for regulatory compliance and operational efficiency. Assist in construction projects or system upgrades by supporting plumbing tasks, heavy lifting, or equipment installation under supervision. Qualifications Proven experience working in wastewater treatment plants or water utility operations with a strong understanding of wastewater systems and water treatment processes. Mechanical knowledge related to pump operation, industrial pump maintenance and repair, plumbing, and general equipment repair. Ability to operate heavy equipment safely while following all safety regulations; experience with construction or heavy lifting is a plus. Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret data accurately for process adjustments; basic math proficiency required. Knowledge of environmental compliance standards related to water utility distribution and wastewater management. Excellent attention to detail combined with good communication skills for documentation and team collaboration. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, stand for extended periods, perform heavy equipment operation, and work in various environmental conditions while using personal protective equipment (PPE).
