Job Description

The Lakewood MUA is hiring a full-time Field Technician. Must perform a variety of tasks in relation to the operations and maintenance of the Authority's water treatment plants, water distribution system, and wastewater collections system. Regular interaction with customers and Authority personnel will occur.
REQUIRES
A valid New Jersey driver's license. High School Graduate or GED. Safe work and driving practices. Continuing Education within the Water/Wastewater field with the desire to obtain licenses. Knowledge of Basic Computer Skills. Basic Utility Map Reading and Understanding, or the Ability to Learn. Must be willing to undergo a physical, including pre-employment drug screen. Self-motivation/ Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks at hand. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to use power tools. Ability to walk on uneven surfaces; constant bending and frequent climbing. Ability to hear oral instructions. Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and co-workers. Ability to work in confined spaces. Ability to climb ladders Read and install water meters for billing. Work in and around raw sewage/wastewater. Work in and around underground utilities. Manual digging and excavating. Assisting other employees in performing repairs/maintenance of water/wastewater pipelines and other facilities. Clean and maintain equipment used in the course of work.. Fill out accurate work orders and track parts usage. Moderately light power-driven equipment when assigned. Use of hand and power tools and equipment required in general building and grounds maintenance work. Perform heavy manual labor for extended periods under sometimes unfavorable conditions. Read, write, understand, and execute written instructions. Execute oral instructions. Work cooperatively with other employees and the public. Operate pick-up trucks and other company vehicles. Follow all Authority safety policies. Perform other related duties as required.

$18.26 per hour
