Job Description:
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the direct supervision of a State Certified Operator and/or the Assistant Water/Wastewater Superintendent performs a variety of unskilled semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and construction work in the operation of water systems. Work involves the following. Removes and resets meters installs new meters and meter boxes. Repairs maintains and installs distribution system such as main-lines service-lines fire hydrants valves meters and related equipment. Cuts fits lays repairs taps cleans and flushes water main-lines valves and hydrants. Checks pipes and fittings for repair or replacement. Operates tapping and compaction equipment jackhammer power tools associated with utility work front-end loader and backhoe. Performs all related duties as assigned and is required to work on holidays weekends and after hours in a variety of weather conditions.
Additional Information:
STARTING HOURLY PAY
: $19.87 p/h
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or (GED) equivalent. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) (state of residence) with Medical Examiner's Card. Must meet City's insurability requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
One (1) year experience in the field of construction, maintenance, water or wastewater.
Other Conditions:
Must pass a background check.
Conditions of Employment:
Will be required to obtain and maintain Water Operator I Certification with the New Mexico Quality Control Commission within eighteen (18) months of hire. Such certification shall be considered as a condition of employment.
