Job Description

Job Summary:
Perform efficient work needed to maintain and operate the city water system.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Operates the plant on assigned shift ensuring that all aspects of the treatment process are operating as expected. Collects and analyzes water samples according to Ohio EPA specifications and makes observations at various locations through treatment process. Monitors the plant, wells and water tower and act to investigate issues that may arise. Maintain plant records and prepare daily reports on plant operations. Responsible for keeping work area clean. Assist in minor maintenance on machines or equipment. Maintain building and grounds of the water treatment plant, well fields and water tower as directed. Works cooperatively with co-workers, supervisors and other city departments. Must arrive at work on time and maintain reliable attendance. Must be available to work on both shifts 1st or 2nd, the water treatment plant is a 16 hour a day facility, 7 days a week. All other duties assigned by Supervisor Qualifications for
Assistant Water Plant Operator:
Preferred a State of Ohio Class I or II Water Supply Operator's Certificate OR required to successfully pass a State Examination for certification as a Class I Treatment Plant Operator within three (3) years of employment. Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and the maintenance of insurability with the City's general liability policy.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of basic math and water treatment plant operations preferred. •We recognize and accept prior relevant experience as a lateral transfer , which allows you to advance on the pay scale accordingly.•
