WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY OPERATOR-IN-TRAINING BOROUGH OF HOLLIDAYSBURG

The Borough of Hollidaysburg is seeking a full-time Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator-In-Training (OIT). A Wastewater Treatment Facility OIT receives structured on-the-job training to develop the knowledge and skills needed to become certified as a Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator. Assignments provide progressively responsible experience in operating and maintaining various wastewater treatment equipment, performing chemical testing of wastewater, and recording and interpreting data and findings. The Wastewater Treatment Facility OIT will be expected to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled technical work in the operation, maintenance, repair and testing of the Wastewater Treatment Facility under the supervision of a licensed PADEP Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator. Applicants must have the ability to learn plant operations, maintenance and laboratory analysis; work safely, communicate effectively verbally and in writing, have the ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions; operate motorized vehicles, various tools and testing equipment; and have a working knowledge of computers. This position requires heavy lifting, bending, stretching and standing. Successful applicants must have:

• High School diploma or equivalency
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License + Ability to obtain a Pennsylvania Wastewater System Operator's License
• Successfully complete a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
• Work outside of typical business hours when required to do so including nights, weekends and holidays.
