POSITION SUMMARY
This position will contribute to the effective performance of the Client water and wastewater systems by assisting in the implementation and maintenance of a program encompassing equipment and material specification standards, engineering design standards, and construction standards used in the formation and maintenance of the Client water and wastewater systems, which includes water, wastewater, reclaimed water, and chilled water systems-including plants, pump stations, transmission and collection/distribution infrastructure. DUTIES andRESPONSIBILITIES
Utilizes the concept of standardization to reduce Client's cost to engineer, control, safely operate, and maintain the water and wastewater systems. Conduct research, specialist studies, process improvement analysis and provide sound engineering recommendations on assigned projects. Maintains approved manufacturers and catalog numbers in Oracle and other database software for use on Client's water and wastewater systems. Provides technical oversight and systems expertise for the development of engineered equipment and construction standards for use with new, or the replacement of existing water and wastewater system components, including templates of construction units. Works collaboratively with other Client process owners to address water and wastewater equipment and/or material issues. Interacts with senior leaders and executives, actively leads or participates in meetings or presentations both inside and outside of Client on matters of significant consequence and importance. Assists with the development, mentoring and technical training of less experienced employees in the field of standards. Oversees and reviews the results of investigations, measurements and analysis when determining root cause of equipment reliability/safety issues and recommends required corrective actions. Support performance measurement with data analysis and reporting. Enforce safety rules, encourage safe work practices and correct unsafe working conditions and behaviors. Stays abreast of and complies with local, state, and federal legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation. Performs other job-related work as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Water, wastewater, reclaimed water, and chilled water systems, including transmission, distribution and collection infrastructure and treatment Engineering concepts, principles, practices, methods, permitting requirements, financial aspects, management, and standards associated with water and wastewater utility equipment and projects. Utility construction methods, engineering standards, and regulatory compliance Industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovation opportunities in utility operations Material specification, vendor approval processes, and ERP system integrations (e.g., Oracle) SagesGov Skill in: Interpreting field documents and schematics. Applying process improvement and innovation principles to enhance operational performance and efficiency. Using required software including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).Ability to:
Conduct research and cost-benefit analyses for materials and equipment supporting program decisions. Manage and report the status on multiple projects. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Write and review all engineering related reports as required. Effectively manage and de-escalate conflict. Understand and resolve external and internal customer issues Effectively handle multiple changing priorities. Work independently and serve as the manager's technical representative.
