•36-hour workweek• Plant Operator (Wastewater Treatment Plant)
Company Description:
Today's North Charleston Sewer District was originally established in 1972 by an Act of the South Carolina General Assembly. Previously, wastewater collection and treatment in the North Area were accomplished by a consolidated public service district. Now operating under a nine-member Commission, the District is committed to "...construction, operation, maintenance and enlargement of...sewers and sewage treatment and disposal...necessary to protect the health of those living in the District, and to provide for the collection, treatment and disposal of sewage and industrial effluent."
Job Description:
The North Charleston Sewer District is looking for add a Plant Operator Position effective immediately.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Uses various laboratory equipment to measure pH, dissolved oxygen, UV transmittance, and blanket levels. Starts up, monitors, adjustments, and shuts down centrifuge; makes adjustments to maintain and process sludge in most efficient manner while operating. Collects and properly labels samples from various areas in treatment process for laboratory testing and analysis. Makes changes to wasting rates of clarifiers based on clarifier blanket levels, clarifier appearance, and solids inventory. Receives truck shipments of various chemicals and operational supplies.
Qualifications:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with any combination of training and experience Shift work and rotating schedule experience preferred. Computer experience required. Must have a valid South Carolina motor vehicle license. Required to apply for and receive Trainee Certificate within 90 days of employment. Must obtain a Class "D" Wastewater Treatment Operator's Certificate within 12 months of employment.
