00 AM - 3:30 PM Aluminum Welder I This position is located on-site at our Bayou La Batre, AL shipyard Our Welders are an integral piece of our work on a daily basis. Some of your daily functions will include:
Roles and Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and ship drawings. Fit, tack, and weld assemblies for hulls, decks, superstructures, and outfitting. Weld aluminum proficiently. Perform rework and repairs as required by QA/QC or inspection results. Weld in any position (uphill, horizontal, vertical, or flat). Operate power equipment safely and comply with all safety standards.
Qualifications / Skills
/
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience as an Aluminum Welder. Possess a High School Diploma or a GED. fundamental knowledge in marine or manufacturing industry. Proficiency in MIG and/or TIG aluminum welding. Knowledge of aluminum alloys commonly used in shipbuilding (e.g., 5083, 5086, 6061). Ability to produce quality work with minimum to no rework. Excellent math skills with the ability to read a tape measure accurately. Understanding of welding distortion control and heat input management.
