Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Welder who is responsible for laying out and fabricating structural steel to build metal structures. Weld and cut steel, interpret blueprints, and work with concrete reinforcing steel bars. Requirements Job Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints for structural steel fabrications. Pass 3G 1 thick plate test with backing in accordance with
AWS D1.1
Structural Welding Code using (FCAW) welding process. Layout and cut miters and copes using hand torch method. Read tape measure, fit and weld structural steel parts within 1/16 tolerance. Experience with overhead crane and forklift safely and pass in-house certification test. Direct the operation of cranes to move structural steel and other materials into fabrication process. Make, weld, cut, and drill structural steel in fabricating area. Fabricate subassemblies for structural steel. Drill holes for bolted connections. Unload trucks and organize material. Number steel in accordance with blueprints. Use laser equipment, plumb bobs, levels, and other equipment to check and verify alignment of fabricated steel. Job Skills & Qualifications Experience with structural steel or related manufacturing experience. FCAW welding experience (ability to pass 3G test required). Experience reading blueprints and steel layout/fit up. Experience cutting, drilling, and assembling steel components. Experience operating or assisting with cranes and forklifts. Familiarity with measuring tools and working within tight tolerances.
