Job Description

Job Title:
MIG Welder Job Description This role is ideal for an experienced MIG welder who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment. You will perform MIG welding on black carbon steel and stainless-steel pipe, including flanges and elbows, while working on a moving production line. The position requires maintaining repeatable, high-quality welds that meet strict cycle time and takt time targets, with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and consistency.
Shift available:
1st shift 6am-2:30pm M-f Responsibilities Perform MIG welding on black carbon steel pipe up to 8 inches, including 4-inch pipe assemblies and dissimilar metal welds from carbon steel to stainless steel. Weld elbows and flanges that connect to compressors, ensuring strong, clean, and reliable joints. Complete welds through all three welding phases: root pass, fill pass, and cover cap, following established procedures and quality standards. Properly prepare materials for welding by grinding, beveling, and cleaning to ensure a weld-ready condition. Maintain consistent weld quality while meeting required cycle time and takt time standards in a high-speed production environment. Work effectively on a moving production line with a line-driven workflow, performing repetitive tasks while sustaining accuracy and quality. Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures at all times, including the correct use of personal protective equipment. Collaborate with production team members to support efficient line operation and meet daily output targets. Perform basic fabrication and fit-up for flanges and elbows as needed to support pipe assemblies. Participate in weld testing and inspections, including black steel weld tests, to verify skills and adherence to standards. Essential Skills Proven, recent experience with MIG welding on black carbon steel, stainless steel, and dissimilar metals such as carbon steel to stainless steel. Extensive and current experience with steel welding, including passing weld tests involving black steel welds. Strong understanding of pipe preparation, including grinding, beveling, cleaning, and proper fit-up for flanges and elbows. Demonstrated ability to perform root, fill, and cap weld techniques with consistent quality. Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a clear understanding of takt time and cycle time requirements. Comfort working on or alongside a moving production line, performing repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and quality. Ability to work quickly and efficiently without sacrificing weld integrity or adherence to safety and quality standards. Good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination to handle welding equipment and materials safely and effectively. Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds and to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb portable ladders as required by the job. Willingness and ability to use personal protective equipment consistently in accordance with safety policies. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with TIG welding processes and wire-fed machines. Background in pipe fitting and steel fabrication work. Familiarity with industry 4.0 manufacturing technologies and modern production systems. Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-growing environment and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. The environment is fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on speed, efficiency, and repeatability rather than custom or job-shop work. You will perform repetitive tasks within a line-driven workflow and must maintain high-quality welds under time constraints. The role requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing portable ladders, as well as lifting and moving up to 35 pounds. Good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination are essential. Personal protective equipment is required and must be worn in accordance with safety standards. The facility supports a collaborative, inclusive atmosphere and provides electric charging stations on site. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gilbert, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
