Position Overview:
Copperstone Mine is seeking an experienced Mining Welder / Fabricator to join our Maintenance team. This is a hands-on position supporting the safe and reliable operation of mobile mining equipment, fixed plant equipment, structural steel, and mine-site infrastructure. The successful candidate will bring strong welding and fabrication skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to perform high-quality repairs and fabrication work in a demanding mining environment.
What You'll Do:
Perform welding, cutting, gouging, fitting, and fabrication on heavy mining and industrial equipment Repair and rebuild components on haul trucks, loaders, excavators, dozers, drills, graders, and other mobile equipment Perform structural repairs and fabrication on chutes, hoppers, conveyors, platforms, handrails, guards, piping supports, and other fixed-plant infrastructure Perform SMAW/Stick, GMAW/MIG, FCAW/Flux-Core, and other welding processes as required Work with carbon steel, abrasion-resistant plate, stainless steel, and other materials used in mining applications Fabricate components from drawings, sketches, measurements, and field requirements Perform crack repairs, bucket and blade repairs, wear-plate replacement, and structural reinforcement Inspect completed work for weld quality, fit, and dimensional accuracy Assist the Maintenance team with equipment shutdowns, breakdown repairs, component replacements, and planned maintenance
What We're Looking For:
Candidates should have a recognized Welder/Fabricator trade qualification, certification, apprenticeship, or an equivalent combination of training and industrial experience, along with previous welding and fabrication experience in mining, heavy equipment, construction, industrial maintenance, or a similar environment. Strong candidates will also demonstrate : Proficiency with common welding and cutting processes Ability to read fabrication drawings, welding symbols, measurements, and technical specifications Strong knowledge of welding preparation, joint design, fit-up, heat control, and repair techniques Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability Ability to safely work around heavy mobile equipment and industrial machinery Commitment to safe work practices and compliance with site procedures Previous mining experience, large mobile-equipment repair experience, heavy-plate fabrication, hardfacing, air-arc gouging, plasma cutting, and wear-package installation are preferred.
