General Description:

The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for assembling and joining metal parts and structures using various welding techniques. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, welding procedures, and work instructions to accomplish any given tasks. The welder must ensure precision in cutting, fitting, and welding components, often using tools such as plasma cutters, torches, and grinders. This is highly detailed work which requires the knowledge of many techniques and tools to produce the high-quality work that is required. Additionally, he/she will inspect completed welds for quality and compliance with specifications, perform routine maintenance on equipment, and adhere to safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment.

Essential Functions:

Performs welding tasks according to blueprints, work orders, and welding proceduresWelds stainless steel and aluminum adhering to welding proceduresBevels material according to procedure before weldingSets up welding equipment according to welding proceduresStarts up and stops equipmentWelds custom-engineered components with meticulous attention to detailSelects and kits material and other components needed for any taskOperates welding machines safely and efficiently to join metal components or structuresFabricates or alters parts using shears, hammers, punches, and drillsUses hand tools and portable power tools to trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints of metal partsUses equipment like plasma cutters and rose bud torches for metal workingWelds in 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G positionsInspects welded joints for quality and accuracy, adjusting as necessary to ensure compliance with standardsTakes performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards required of customersPerforms repairs to any defective or non-conforming weldsCollaborates on any repairs necessary for damaged partsAssists in the making of Jigs to facilitate and improve welding processPerforms standard machine maintenance, including changing bottles, rollers, liners, etcMaintains welding equipment and tools in good condition, reporting any malfunctions or issues to supervisorsUses tools like measuring tape, angle finder, and material gauge to verify dimensionsInspects parts to ensure conformance to specifications and quality standardsMarks parts for identificationAssists other weldersLoads and unloads items from machines, carts, and dolliesWorks at heights of above 4ft with proper fall protection equipmentPerforms required tasks while on a step ladder, ladder, rolling ladder, or scissor liftOperates forklifts to move materialAssists forklift operatorsOperates cranes, jib boom cranes, and other rigging equipmentReports jobs status into workflow management softwareRecords data as neededCleans and organizes work and storage areas to ensure safe and efficient operationsSweeps, mops, and removes debrisExecutes tasks while prioritizing safety and qualityEnsures a safe work environment for oneself and others in the workplaceParticipates in continuous improvement projectsPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Education:

High school diploma or equivalentVocational training or certification in welding is preferred

Experience:

One year of stainless-steel weldingOne year of welding experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
