Job Summary:
The Mining Welder is responsible for performing skilled welding, fabrication, repair, and maintenance work on heavy mining equipment, machinery, structural components, and related systems. This position uses various welding and cutting processes to repair worn or damaged components, fabricate replacement parts, and support preventive and corrective maintenance activities in demanding mining and industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Proficient in MIG, TIG, SMAW, FCAW, Welding practices.
  • Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications.
  • Perform carbon arc gouging, oxy-fuel cutting, grinding, and fit-up procedures to prepare, repair, and fabricate mining equipment and structural components.
  • Apply proper preheat, interpass temperature control, and post-weld practices to ensure weld quality, structural integrity, and compliance with applicable welding procedures and specifications.
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
  • Perform crack repairs and structural reinforcement on mining equipment and components in accordance with company standards, manufacturer specifications, and approved repair procedures.
  • Select, prepare, and work with alloy steels, abrasion-resistant (AR) plate, high-strength structural materials, and other materials commonly used in mining equipment repair and fabrication.
  • Safely operate welding machines, air arc equipment, cutting torches, grinders, and other fabrication tools and equipment in accordance with established safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
