Welder / Fabricator Lloyd's Strategic Services is looking for two good people to join our team — one primarily for the shop and one primarily for field work. We are a sheet metal fabrication job shop, and our work is different from day to day. You may spend a week or two on one project and then move on to something completely different. If you like variety and don't want to build the same thing every day, this could be a good fit. We work with materials from 18 gauge up to 1/8" on a regular basis. We also have heavier material come through the shop, sometimes ranging from 1/4" up to 1". We primarily use the TIG welding process, with stainless steel and aluminum being a big part of what we do. We do very little carbon steel. Most of our work is finish work, so you need to be able to produce a clean weld and take pride in how the finished product looks. You will need to be able to fabricate from drawings, read a tape measure, and have basic sheet metal fabrication skills. You also need to understand basic safety and have some of your own tools of the trade. Shop Position The shop position will primarily be working in our fabrication shop. You will be building and welding different projects, often from drawings. You need to be comfortable working with stainless steel and aluminum and be proficient with TIG welding. You should be able to look at a drawing, understand what needs to be built, and get to work without needing someone to walk you through every step. Field Position The field position is different from working in the shop. You need to be versatile, able to think on your feet, and able to figure things out when you get to a job. One day you may be repairing a cracked handrail. Another day you could be welding and polishing a stainless steel corner on the side of a commercial kitchen table. We work primarily in the hospitality industry, so the work depends on what our customers need. Most of our field work is local, and you will be home pretty much every night — about 97% of the time. Schedule This is primarily a day-shift position. We start work at 8:30 AM and usually finish somewhere between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, depending on the workload and what we have going on that day. Every once in a while, we may have third-shift work, but this is very rare. If third-shift work is needed, it will be discussed with you in advance. Welding Certifications Welding certifications will be required within 90 days of being hired. If you already have welding certifications, that's a plus. However, certifications generally do not transfer from one employer to another, so you may still be required to test and obtain the certifications needed for the work we do. If you have the experience but don't currently have the required certifications, that's okay. If you're willing to learn and put in the work, we can help you get the certifications you need. We are looking for people who know what they're doing, take pride in their work, and can be counted on to get the job done.
