BACKGROUND
QAI laboratories is a testing, inspection and certification organization providing services to manufacturers of Electrical Products, Building Products, Vehicles, Factory Built Structures and other regulated products. Recognition of the QAI name and logo have grown significantly over the past few years resulting in significant expansion of the business. We are looking for a Sr.
Welder / Technician
to join our Building Products team in Medley, FL. Our ideal candidate is someone who is good with their hands, can handle power tools, is reliable and/or has had prior experience in the construction industry.
DUTIES:
The successful candidate will perform, but not limited to, the following duties:
Welder:
Read blueprints/drawings and plan layouts and proceduresTake and read measurementsAlways follow specifications and instructions for maximum efficiencyWeld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipmentDetermine the appropriate welding equipment or machinery to be usedSet up components for weldingAlign components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp piecesRepair machinery or report damages on machines and equipmentTest and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flawsMaintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safetyWork under strict timelinesAble to lead a small team
Technician:
Building of test fixtures and assembliesDismantling test chambers and uninstalling productsExecution of provided work instructionsAssisting Senior technicians as assignedClean up, organization of inventoryWritten and verbal reports to clients and managementSomeone willing/able/interested in learning and growing from within the organizationOther duties as assigned by the manager or its designee
QUALIFICATION
The successful candidate will have: Microsoft Office (Excel and Word required, other programs an asset)Safe working practice with tools associated with constructionor similar role in a construction setting3+ years of experience using a variety of welding equipment, machinery and procedures.3+ years of experience in using electrical or manual toolsAbility to read and interpret technical documents and drawingsGood knowledge of and adherence with safety standardsAttention to detailCritical thinker and problem-solving skillsTeam playerGood time-management skillsGreat interpersonal and communication skillsForklift operator, counterbalance and high reachScissor lift operator
Key Technical Competence:
Accepts instruction and follows it for testing outside of their general scope of knowledge and experience.
Able to grasp general concepts in a field of testing and apply it to specific test methods.
Able to perform simple testing and as knowledge grows in a specific field of testing graduates to more complex testing methods.
Seeks assistance and knowledge from more senior personnel when a specific requirement is outside of their general scope of knowledge.
Good working knowledge of the test methods in their specific discipline.
Able to multi-task with some degree of efficiency and accuracy.
Maintains a sense of ownership and responsibility for projects assigned to them.
