Job Description
The hiring rate for this position is $22.28/hr. Under general supervision of the Sanitation Supervisor, or designee. Performs a wide variety of welding and repair tasks in the fabrication, modification, and repair of vehicles and equipment in the Public Works Department, in accordance with all applicable City codes and Departmental policies. Duties are generally performed independently. Requires the ability to work overtime and holidays when required and be contacted by telephone for call-out after hours. Work is reviewed through observations and obtained results. Performs electrical welding. Performs fabrication, modification, and repair of automotive, mechanical, and related equipment. Heats, brazes, cuts, resurfaces, and fits ferrous and non-ferrous metals on heavy and light equipment according to work orders, sketches, or blueprints. Mandatory overtime, holiday work, and call-outs may be required. Orders supplies and materials; and keeps records of material usage. Work may include fabrication and welding for other Divisions/Departments within the City. Performs other duties as assigned.
