- We are seeking a skilled
- Shop Welder
- to join our growing team in the Cedar Rapids area.
This position is responsible for fabricating, repairing, and assembling steel components and equipment used in grain handling, agricultural processing, and industrial applications. The ideal candidate has experience with MIG and Stick welding, blueprint reading, metal fabrication, and operating shop equipment. - Key Responsibilities
- + Perform MIG, Stick, and occasional TIG welding on structural steel, equipment components, and fabricated assemblies.
+ Fabricate parts and components from blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
+ Read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication prints, and work orders.
+ Measure, cut, fit, and assemble metal components.
+ Operate fabrication equipment including saws, grinders, drills, ironworkers, plasma cutters, and other shop tools.
+ Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, grinding, and fitting components.
+ Inspect completed welds to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
+ Repair and modify existing equipment and structures as needed.
+ Assist with the fabrication of conveyors, support structures, catwalks, platforms, hoppers, and related industrial equipment.
+ Maintain welding equipment and ensure tools are in proper working condition.
+ Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
+ Work collaboratively with shop supervisors, project managers, and fellow welders to meet production schedules.
+ Assist with loading and unloading fabricated materials and assemblies when required.
- Qualifications
- Required
- + Minimum 1 year of welding or metal fabrication experience.
+ Proficiency in MIG and Stick welding.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and shop specifications.
+ Experience using fabrication tools, power tools, and hand tools.
+ Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic shop math.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
+ Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Preferred
- + MIG welding experience.
+ Experience with structural steel fabrication.
+ Experience operating plasma cutting equipment, ironworkers, and other fabrication machinery.
+ Familiarity with grain handling, agricultural processing, or industrial equipment fabrication.
+ Welding certifications or technical training.
+ Forklift and overhead crane experience.
+ Mechanical aptitude and equipment repair experience.

- Work Environment
- Work is primarily performed in a fabrication shop setting. Employees use welding equipment, fabrication machinery, power tools, and material handling equipment to build and repair industrial equipment and structural components. Team members work closely with supervisors and fellow fabricators to complete projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

- This is a Contract to Hire position based out of
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA.
- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $20.
00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
