Welder Job Description As a Welder, your primary responsibilities will involve MIG welding aluminum feed trailers. You will be tasked with climbing into bins and welding aluminum parts together, standing and welding, and tacking parts of trailers using .035 wire. Additionally, you will need to read and interpret blueprints to determine appropriate welds, measurements, and positions. Responsibilities Perform MIG welding on aluminum feed trailers using .035 wire. Climb into bins and weld aluminum parts together. Stand and weld, tacking parts of trailers. Read and interpret blueprints to determine welds, measurements, and positions. Essential Skills MIG welding experience for over 6 months. Ability to read blueprints accurately. Assembly and fabrication skills. Aluminum welding proficiency. Interpretation of blueprints. Additional Skills & Qualifications Minimum 1 year of on-the-job welding experience. Work Environment This is a fully on-site position located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The manufacturing facility produces a wide range of aluminum feed transportation equipment and is akin to a general shop environment, being cool in winters and warm in summers. The facility consists of three main departments: service, welding, and final assembly. Shift timings are 1st shift (5am-1:30pm or 6am-2:30pm), 2nd shift (2:30pm-11:00pm), and 3rd shift (9:30pm-6:00am). All candidates will initially train on the 1st shift for the first few weeks, with the potential to move to their assigned shift based on learning speed. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
