Position Summary Heartland Fabrication, LLC is seeking a dependable and skilled Welder to join our fabrication team. The Welder is responsible for fitting, welding, and fabricating steel components and assemblies according to drawings, specifications, and company quality standards. This position requires the ability to read fabrication drawings, accurately measure and fit components, produce quality welds, and work efficiently in a fast-paced fabrication shop. The ideal candidate takes pride in their workmanship, works safely, and understands the importance of producing accurate parts the first time. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform MIG welding and other welding processes as required. Fit and weld structural steel, plate, tubing, angle, channel, and other fabricated components. Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and dimensions. Measure, position, clamp, tack, and fit components prior to final welding. Verify dimensions and squareness of fabricated assemblies. Use grinders, saws, drills, torches, and other common fabrication tools and equipment. Inspect completed welds and assemblies for quality and accuracy. Identify and correct fit-up or welding issues before completing assemblies. Maintain consistent weld quality while meeting production expectations. Follow job travelers, work instructions, and production priorities. Properly handle and organize materials and fabricated parts. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Perform routine care and inspection of welding equipment and tools. Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE. Communicate material, drawing, quality, or production concerns to supervisors. Work cooperatively with other welders, fabricators, machine operators, and production personnel. Perform other fabrication and shop duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous welding or metal fabrication experience preferred. Ability to perform MIG welding on carbon steel. Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings and blueprints. Understanding of basic weld symbols preferred. Ability to accurately use a tape measure and other measuring tools. Experience with common fabrication tools such as grinders, drills, clamps, and saws. Ability to perform basic shop math, including fractions and decimals. Strong attention to detail and workmanship. Ability to work independently after receiving job instructions. Dependable attendance and ability to work scheduled hours and overtime when required. Willingness to learn and perform different fabrication tasks as production needs change. Physical Requirements The employee must be able to: Stand and work on concrete floors for extended periods. Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull. Safely lift and move materials, tools, and fabricated components. Work around welding fumes, sparks, heat, noise, and moving equipment. Wear required personal protective equipment, including welding helmet, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, steel-toe footwear, and other PPE as required. Safely perform the physical duties associated with a metal fabrication environment. Employees are responsible for checking their own work throughout the fabrication process and bringing any questions or discrepancies to a supervisor before proceeding. Work Environment This position is performed primarily in a manufacturing and metal fabrication shop. Employees regularly work around welding operations, machinery, steel materials, forklifts, cranes, sparks, noise, and other normal conditions associated with a fabrication facility.
