Automotive TIG Welder/Fabricator ( Honda & Acura Performance Parts ) RV6 Performance LLC West Chicago, IL Job Details Full-time From $28 an hour 10 hours ago Benefits Paid holidays Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Qualifications Defect detection (quality control) Teamwork Automotive welding equipment Measuring instruments Blueprint dimension interpretation Ability to follow instructions Visual inspection for quality control Hand tools Welding Full Job Description Job Summary Put your TIG skills into Honda and Acura performance parts. RV6 Performance manufactures high-quality aftermarket performance parts for Honda and Acura vehicles. We are seeking a production TIG welder/fabricator to produce consistent, visually appealing stainless-steel exhaust assemblies. This role works with prepared components, fixtures and established work instructions in a small, collaborative team. The work is repeatable production welding. RV6 provides instruction on its equipment controls, weld sequences and quality standards; you bring an existing foundation in manual TIG. Primary responsibilities Review work instructions, components, fit-up and fixtures before welding. Set up and operate manual
TIG/GTAW
equipment safely and correctly. Tack and weld stainless-steel assemblies using the required sequence, shielding gas and purge arrangements. Produce high-quality, visually appealing welds and maintain consistency across repeated production parts. Inspect completed work, recognize defects, apply feedback and report quality or equipment concerns. Use basic hand tools, measuring tools and metalworking equipment as required. Follow all shop safety and PPE procedures and keep the workstation clean and production-ready. Required qualifications At least one year of recent, paid, hands-on manual
TIG/GTAW
welding experience. Relevant self-employed and paid-apprenticeship TIG work may qualify; welding-school coursework alone does not meet the minimum requirement. Ability to produce sound, consistent welds and perform basic measuring, fit-up and fixture work. Ability to follow instructions, accept feedback, recognize defects and apply corrections independently. Reliable attendance, transportation and availability for the posted on-site schedule. Ability to complete a practical welding evaluation as part of the hiring process. Ability to perform the essential duties of the position, including occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Submit the required photos of your own TIG weld beads, as described below. Preferred qualifications Experience TIG welding stainless steel and thin-wall tubing. Automotive knowledge or experience with aftermarket performance components. Experience in repetitive production welding where appearance and consistency are critical. Strong TIG welders from other industries and material backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Automotive experience is helpful but not required. Required weld-bead photos Submit at least two clear close-up photos of TIG weld beads you personally made. Photos may come from paid work, welding school or personal projects. School or personal-project photos meet the photo requirement only; they do not replace the required year of paid manual TIG experience. A close-up of the bead is enough. You do not need to show the complete part, assembly, machine or vehicle. Crop out identifying details and submit only photos you are permitted to share. Label each photo with the material, approximate thickness and whether it was made at work, at school or on a personal project. Submit TIG examples, not MIG examples or another person's work. Written or verbal descriptions do not replace the photo submission. Photos must be received and reviewed before an on-site welding evaluation is scheduled.
